Fire Safety Can Be Cheap

Fire Safety can be Cheap

If you own a Seniors Card, you can receive up to $200 towards the purchase and installation of a smoke alarm through the Government’s Safety and Security Rebate scheme.

The rebate is part of the Government’s recent $10 million initiative to improve the wellbeing and safety of seniors and promote active retirement.

JewishCare social worker Iris Bennett experienced the benefits of a smoke alarm first hand recently when she was woken by the piercing sound of her smoke alarm.

“A fire had broken out in my kitchen and completely destroyed my kitchen cupboards,” she said.
“Having a working smoke alarm probably saved my life.”

A further $200 is available for Seniors Card holders looking to install or purchase other safety devices. Each rebate is available on a per household basis only.

For more information on applying for these rebates please contact the JewishCare WA office. Our social worker can assist you with the application process.
